Osprey Software operates ospreynav.com, a marine navigation and vessel-data service for boat owners and the crew they invite. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account identity. When you sign in we receive your email address and basic profile (such as your name) from your chosen sign-in method — email one-time code, passkey, Google, or Apple. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email," we receive a private relay address instead of your real one.
- Membership & access. Which vessel(s) you are a member of and your role (e.g. owner or crew).
- Vessel data. Data associated with a vessel you have access to (such as logs and configuration) that you or your crew upload.
How we use your information
We use your information solely to authenticate you, to authorize your access to the vessel(s) you belong to, and to operate and secure the service. We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for advertising.
Authentication and email
Sign-in is handled by Amazon Cognito. If you choose Google or Apple sign-in, those providers authenticate you and share your email and basic profile with us; their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies. We send service email (sign-in codes and crew invitations) from crew@ospreynav.com via Amazon SES.
Where your data is stored
Your account and vessel data are stored in our own Amazon Web Services account (US East region). Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, and access is restricted so that each vessel's data is isolated to its members.
Third-party services
We rely on Amazon Web Services (hosting, authentication, email, and storage) and, only if you choose them, Google and Apple as sign-in providers. We do not share your personal information with other third parties.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. To access, correct, or delete your data, email crew@ospreynav.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
